The 91b gun, one of the many Napoleonic war surplus items which the Mexican government bought from England during the early 1830's, is a typical split trail English pattern 9 lb gun with elevating screw, and side mounted ammo boxes, which are hinged to open and close. Troops of the Mexican Foot Artillery fought in every battle of the Mexican War. They wore a unique uniform consisting of a special stovepipe shako decorated with diagonal metal bands on the sides and a red ball plume in front, a dark blue coat lapels and yellow braid, dark blue trousers with a red stripe, black crossbelts and leatherwork.
